Kelly began her career working for animals and their welfare in 2000 at Animal Medical Center in Virginia Beach, VA. She spent 6 years there before joining the Norfolk Police Department’s Animal Protection Unit. She volunteered with Tidewater Wildlife and Rehabilitation, the Virginia Animal Fighting Task Force, and a Virginia State Legislation group for Animal Welfare to lobby for changes to the State code for maintaining dangerous/vicious animals. In 2015 she relocated to Crown Point Indiana as a Field Officer and Medical Care Coordinator for Lake County Animal Control. She implemented enrichment programs for the animals housed in the facility. She moved back into Vetmed at Veterinary Specialty Center in Buffalo Grove Illinois working as a Veterinary Assistant in the Emergency Department.
