Moira has always had a love of animals and science. In high school, Moira joined the Brookfield Zoo Youth Volunteer Corps. During that time she took classes at University of Chicago, participated in rotations around the zoo, and spent her last year with the Hooved Stock doing a behavioral study on Addax. A few years later, Moira joined the staff of Midwest Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital as a customer service representative, and spent extra time learning from Dr. Nye and assisting the technician staff. She left Midwest for a few years to learn more about being a technician at various practices seeing cats, dogs, and exotics in appointment based, emergency, and integrative practices! She also spent 9 years working with the Greater Chicago Ferret Association as a member of management. Moira recently returned to Midwest as a part of our ER team in November of 2019! She is excited to bring all of her knowledge and energy back to Midwest and learn even more. She decided to come back to emergency medicine to help animals and their human care givers on their worst days. She shares her home with her Fiancé, and their four cats, two domestic shorthairs named Deemie and Ham, and Two Bengal mixes named Pyro Mayhem and Quill. She hopes to start a little hobby farm in the next few years.
